I spent years working in the industrial and banking industries, and I love sharing my real world experience with my students to help them get into this challenging profession.

Jeffrey Howells

Lecturer

I started my academic career with a degree in physics. After I immigrated to the U.S. from the U.K., I worked as a research engineer for Westinghouse before returning to school to get my M.B.A. from Indiana University.

I worked for Unisys in a variety of management and technical positions mostly involving banking industry software products and then joined a financial subsidiary of ADP that provided service bureau based corporate cash management services to banks. I was promoted to general manager after five years and later held a variety of staff and line positions at ADP including CIO of a large division.

My students are also actively involved in the life of the university. Since 2010, I’ve worked with the Office of the Vice President for Research to analyze data to help the university with issues such as diversity and student success. By working on these projects in my classes, I give students real world experience in analyzing the data that businesses rely on for success.

My students have worked on a number of project outside the University as well. In collaboration with the Archway Partnership, an organization that matches students with area communities in need of their services, I helped create a website portal for Sumter County that provided health information for the local hospital as well as information for city and county agencies.
