Associate Professor
I am board-certified in two veterinary specialties; by the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care, and in Large Animal Medicine by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons.
In the beginning of my career, I undertook an internship in equine medicine and surgery at the Alamo Pintado Equine Medical Center in Los Olivos, California. I then tackled two residencies and a PhD program—within a span of six years at Ohio State University.
A Triple Dawg, I have earned my Bachelor’s, Master’s, and DVM degrees at UGA. In 2013, I returned to Athens as a clinical assistant professor of large animal emergency medicine and surgery. My expertise is in emergency medicine, critical care medicine, and surgery. I’m particularly interested in the budding area of large animal emergency and critical care medicine. In addition to my clinical interests, my research interests are in biomechanics.
While at UGA, I have presented at more than 20 professional conferences, contributed more than a dozen peer-reviewed articles to veterinary journals, and authored several chapters for large animal textbooks.
In 2014 I was honored to be selected as a UGA Teaching Academy Fellow. Some of my other career highlights so far include the Veterinary Orthopedic Society Mark S. Bloomberg Memorial Resident Research Award in 2010 and 2013, the Ohio State University Hospital Service Award in 2010, and the Ohio State University Resident Representative Award that I was honored with in 2010 and 2013.
