As a financial planning practitioner and researcher, Ron aspires to bring applied research to financial planning practitioners in an effort to provide practical solutions to client-focused challenges.

Completing my 50th year (as of June 2023) working with high net-worth clients who seek an uncommon degree of innovation, technical expertise, and client service in the management of their personal financial affairs.

Past experience includes 25 years as a co-founder and owner of Chapin Asset Management, an entrepreneurial boutique asset and wealth management firm, 20 years (1973 – 1993) in the corporate world with Super Regional (CBT, now Bank of America) and Money Center Banking (Bankers Trust Company- NYC, now Deutsche Bank) in Personal Trust, Investment, Private Banking, & Wealth Management.

Past academic appointment from 2011-2019 as an Assistant Professor of Personal Financial Planning for Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS teaching Estate Planning and Investments Core CFP® courses, Financial Ethics and Mediation in PFP, Applied Behavioral Finance, CFP® Capstone/Financial Development Plan Course, Advanced Estate Planning, Advanced Retirement Planning, and Research Methods I.

Specialties: Specialize in design and management of taxable portfolios for all personal trust arrangements (portfolio-driven tax management) and for individuals who desire an uncommon degree of attention and focus on their personal finances.

Expertise includes portfolio & wealth management, investment research, personal financial planning, sales & marketing within a “transfer tax-protected” environment, and applied behavioral finance concepts at the individual client level.

Consulted for major financial institutions to enhance technical expertise of line officers

Served as Expert Witness in cases before Federal District Courts involving investment litigation of personal trust arrangements.
