The University of Georgia’s Lamar Dodd School of Art will host a virtual Art Education Graduate Studies Information Session on Wednesday, October 14, at 7 p.m. ET for prospective students interested in learning more about graduate study in art education at UGA.

The session will highlight UGA’s Online Master of Art Education (M.A.Ed.), a 30-credit-hour graduate program designed for practicing art educators, artists and other professionals interested in educational settings. Graduate studies faculty and staff will be available to share more about the program and answer questions from prospective students.

UGA’s Online M.A.Ed. explores the intersections of art curriculum, contemporary art, disability studies, digital technology and culturally responsive practices. Students engage with new approaches to art education while developing as reflective, creative and critical thinkers.

Designed with working professionals in mind, the M.A.Ed. can be completed fully online in two years. Asynchronous courses are offered in focused seven-week blocks, allowing students to take one course at a time while completing two courses each semester. Students can also choose to participate in an optional one-week, studio-based summer residency in Athens.

The program is housed within UGA’s Lamar Dodd School of Art, giving online students the opportunity to learn from faculty with expertise spanning art-making, theory, research and education.

The October 14 information session will also include information about UGA’s in-person Art Education graduate programs, including the Ph.D.
