As we all know, graduation is coming up, and spring and summer graduates are gearing up for this special day. At UGA Online, we are of the firm opinion that our online students should have the same graduation experience as in-person students. Although the May 13 graduation ceremony will be broadcast live on Channel 15 of the University Cable System and Channel 181 of the Charter Cable System, and streamed live on The University Channel, we would love for you to attend in person. Graduation gear can be purchased easily over the phone or online.
Attending the commencement ceremony in person offers you the opportunity to meet with your virtual classmates and professors, and to experience the pride of graduation with other University of Georgia students. You're a Dawg, after all, and you deserve the same celebration that all other students receive. As alumna DeDe deLaughter says, "I earned it." Watch the video below on her experience attending graduation in person, as a UGA student.
The commencement ceremony for graduate students will be Friday May 13 at 10:00 a.m. in Stegeman Coliseum and the undergraduate ceremony will be at 7:00 p.m. in Sanford Stadium. Academic regalia is required for participation in all UGA ceremonies. We know it's hard for you to make it in to the graduation fairs at The University of Georgia Bookstore, though. Students attending classes outside of Athens can order academic regalia by calling 706-542-7224. When ordering, be sure to know your height, approximate weight, major and degree. Undergraduates will need to order an additional tassel if you are graduating with honors. Please allow a few weeks for delivery. Custom and fine quality regalia for students earning master's, professional or doctoral degrees must be ordered by March 18.
