My current research projects focus on how equity and justice-oriented leadership practices are operationalized in high-poverty middle schools; the limitations and possibilities of justice and equity-oriented teacher education in this neoliberal culture; teachers as curriculum designers.

Teaching for social justice is frequently confused with diversity, multicultural education, equity, etc. These assorted theories of social justice come from diverse fields. These include architecture, medicine, psychology and hard science. Some theories concentrate on different features of social justice such as norms, rules, justice and attitudes. It is a process and a product. We need to know what social justice looks like when we have reached those goals and how to attain the goals of social justice as a process.
