Online MFT Faculty Member Receives Meigs Professorship
Dr. Mark Harrison, Program Lead for Online Master of Food Technology program, was given a Meigs Professorship. The Josiah Meigs Distinguished Teaching Professorship is UGA’s highest award for excellence in instruction. He is one of four professors to share this honor for 2015. During his time at UGA, he has been named a Lilly Teaching Fellow and a UGA Senior Teaching Fellow. Harrison has also been recognized for his contribution to teaching in the food science community. In 2013 he was awarded the William V. Cruess Award, which is the highest teaching award in North American food science. As stated in UGA Today, he has earned this because “Harrison is described by colleagues as an innovator in the classroom who incorporates laboratory and group discussion to apply knowledge and principles to real-world problem-solving situations.”
