Professor Emeritus of LDT Co-Edited a New Book on Online Learning
Dr. Thomas Reeves, Professor Emeritus of Learning, Design and Technology in the College of Education at the University of Georgia, has co-edited a book about online learning that is coming out this summer. The book, MOOCs and Open Education Around the World, goes into depth on the different applications of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and other forms of open education in different parts of the world. Dr. Reeves has first hand knowledge in this subject, having co-taught three MOOCs and completed several as a learner as well. Just this past year, he gave talks and workshops about online learning design and evaluation all over the world, including Israel, Korea, South Africa and Turkey. After earning his Ph.D. in Instructional Design, Development and Evaluation at Syracuse University, he was a Fulbright Lecturer in Peru at the National Technical University. He came to UGA in 1982. He is currently consulting with the World Health Organization and working on various educational technology projects at other institutions such as the University of Missouri and the New York Institute of Technology. He also enjoys time with his wife, Dr. Trisha Reeves, a Professor of Social Work at UGA, and their two Westies, Button and Zipper. He would be happy to help any department or program at UGA interested in developing more effective online learning.
