Moni Basu named as Director of MFA Narrative Nonfiction program
Moni Basu will assume the role of director of the Master in Fine Arts in Narrative Nonfiction beginning January 2023. She is an award-winning journalist and author who has served as a distinguished professor of practice at Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communications since 2015.
During an interview Basu shared, “This felt like a poetic opportunity for me,” as she will now serve the program that was launched by the late Valerie Boyd. She continued, “It is an honor for me to lead this amazing program and to ensure that Valerie’s legacy shines bright.”
Basu’s experience ranges from working as a senior writer at CNN to authoring the book “Chaplain Turner’s War.” She has also served as the Micheal and Linda Connelly Lecturer in Narrative Nonfiction at the University of Florida.
The Low Residency MFA in Narrative Nonfiction program is one of two tracks in the Low Residency MFA in Narrative Media Writing program at UGA Online. It is a two-year program focusing on storytelling within writing.
