Merrill-Lynch Invests in FACS Financial Planning Program
The College of Family and Consumer Sciences has received a $25,000 gift from Merrill Lynch to support the college’s financial planning program, including the University of Georgia online Master of Science in Financial Planning, Housing and Consumer Economics degree program.
Housed within the financial planning, housing and consumer economics department, the FACS financial planning program has been recognized as one of the top programs in the country by several national organizations.
Enrollment in the program continues to climb as the financial planning field has been projected for tremendous growth in the coming years.
The investment by Merrill Lynch will allow the college to offer student scholarships, enhance recruitment efforts and create new opportunities for mentorship within the industry.
“We’re grateful for this gift as it will assist us in recruiting and promoting a diverse financial planning workforce, help us provide students with scholarships and facilitate alumni mentorship and support of the next generation of financial planners,” FHCE department head Sheri Worthy said.
