The Hunter-Holmes Signature Lecture

Each year, a distinguished figure delivers a lecture which focuses on race relations, aspects of higher education or black history. This annual lecture is named for the first black students to enroll at UGA, Dr. Hamilton Holmes and Charlayne Hunter-Gault. Recordings of past lectures are also available.

Charlayne Hunter-Gault and her husband established the Giving a Voice to the Voiceless grant that provides funding for a storytelling platform for black graduates. 

Grady College graduate Ashley Carter (AB ’20) worked on the UGA Black Alumni Oral History Project through the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library. The UGA Libraries has compiled these Interviews for the UGA Black Alumni Oral History Project.
