Top 3 Resources for UGA Online Faculty

Top 3 Resources for UGA Online Faculty

There are many concepts to consider when developing an effective online course or program and the Office of Online Learning is here to help you. We’ve created an online learning faculty teaching portal full of resources that will help plan, promote, develop, teach and assess online courses. The portal provides faculty with information ranging from policies, starting programs, to course development.

Our goal is to provide faculty and administrators with the resources needed to share knowledge effectively so students have a great experience.

Stephen Balfour, the director of the University of Georgia’s Office of Online Learning, said, “We wanted to create a place to ensure faculty and administrators can create or build-upon online classrooms efficiently and easily.”

Here are our top three resources for online faculty.

Budget Planning Programs

Before starting an online course, you must examine what it takes to create and run an online course. This includes marketing, hardware and software, salaries, course development and maintenance, quality assurance, and student support services. Our faculty teaching portal outlines each component and provides additional budgeting planning suggestions.

E-rate

Colleges and schools can charge a special tuition rate for online graduate programs that’s called e-rate. E-rate equalizes the cost of the program for all students, regardless of their residency status. Our faculty teaching portal outlines how to apply for it, the schools approved for e-rate tuition and details about UGA’s e-rate policy.

Compliance Guidelines

The Office of Online Learning can help with compliance guidelines such as SACSOC and the ADA section 508. Our office can provide consultations for making digital content accessible, including video captioning. Our faculty teaching portal provides extensive information on how all students can participate fully and equally in the online classroom.
