Virtual Career Center opportunities you don’t want to miss!
The University of Georgia Career Center can help you explore career options, prepare for your job search, find a mentor, and become “Arch Ready”. And now, all of these services and events are available to you virtually. Explore the upcoming Career Center virtual services and events on the Career Center website calendar.
Here’s a sample list of career services and events provided online through the Career Center that all students should take advantage of:
Virtual Career Fairs:
-
Career fairs are a good way to scout out career opportunities such as jobs, internships, etc. Even at a virtual career fair there is the possibility of a video chat with an employer, so we recommend dressing the same way you would for an in-person fair. Before you join the career fair research the employers attending and practice your pitch! Don’t forget to update your LinkedIn profile and come prepared with an updated resume. There will be more information on attending the career fair when you go to register.
-
All Fall 2020 UGA career fairs will be held virtually via the Handshake platform. The next virtual career fair will be held Oct. 21. UGA VIRTUAL Graduate School Information Day 2020 will be from 12 pm to 3 pm via Handshake on Oct. 21.
Virtual Appointments:
-
Appointments with the career center allow you to meet with a career consultant to plan internships and future work experience that work with the subject you are studying.
-
To schedule an appointment, please do so through your Handshake account. Once scheduled, your Career Consultant will send you a virtual meeting invitation via Zoom.
-
The career center is also providing drop-in virtual appointments on Monday through Friday from 11 am to 2 pm.
-
To participate in Virtual Drop-in appointments: You must enter the password that can be found on Handshake to join the zoom link provided on the website. No pre-registration is required and the Zoom link will only work between 11 am and 2 pm, M-F.
“Arch Ready”:
-
At UGA, The Arch is an important symbol. It represents UGA’s time-honored traditions and stands as the bridge between campus and the professional world. The UGA Career Center wants to make sure that every student is ready to succeed once they graduate. Being “Arch Ready” means being prepared for life after graduation.
-
The Arch Ready Certificate program covers professional development topics, ranging from resume writing and interviewing to choosing a major and pursuing your dream job. Aside from enhancing your professional skills, Arch Ready Certificate recipients also receive a formal digital “Arch Ready” certificate!
-
This fall, ALL Arch Ready Programs will be conducted virtual, either through Zoom Webinar or Zoom Meeting.
