My research of quantitative methods focuses on improving the design and analysis of causal studies through developing frameworks and tools.
Assistant Professor
I got my Ph.D. in Educational Studies with a concentration on Quantitative and Mixed Methods from the University of Cincinnati. I finished my M.S. degree in Economics of Education from Peking University in Beijing, China, and my B.A. degree in Educational Administration from Henan Normal University in Henan, China.
I am interested in developing research methods and advancing education systems to be more equal and efficient. My research of quantitative methods focuses on improving the design and analysis of causal studies through developing frameworks and tools. This line of work tries to help design effective and efficient experimental studies in education and psychology to explore the effectiveness of interventions, the mechanisms of interventions, and under what conditions, for whom, and where the intervention effects are most salient. My applied research focuses on assessing the effects of educational systems on outcomes of individuals across the lifespan and improving the equity and quality of lives through systematic reforms.
My goal in teaching and mentoring is to promote positive change in student learning and career development. I achieve this goal by employing active and experimental learning while teaching courses and through collaborations with students on research projects with shared interests.
Besides academic work, I enjoy running, playing basketball, cooking, and doing carpenter work.
