I teach because I believe education has the power to change lives, create opportunities, and strengthen communities. My interest in elementary agricultural education and artificial intelligence research stems from a desire to prepare both teachers and students for the future by expanding agricultural literacy, improving educational access, and developing innovative tools that make teaching and learning more effective.
I am interested in elementary agricultural education (EAE) because I believe agricultural literacy should begin at an early age and that high-quality agricultural experiences can help students develop knowledge, skills, and awareness of food, agriculture, and natural resources. I am also interested in artificial intelligence research in agricultural education because AI has the potential to improve teaching efficiency, personalize learning experiences, and expand access to educational resources for teachers and students.
I believe learning should be engaging, relevant, and connected to real-world experiences. My goal is to prepare students to think critically, solve problems, and use innovative tools and technologies to make meaningful contributions to agriculture, education, and society.
I hope students leave my classes with the knowledge, confidence, and critical thinking skills needed to succeed in their careers and make a positive impact in their communities. I also want them to develop a passion for lifelong learning and the ability to adapt to new challenges and opportunities.
One thing I would like students to know about me is that I believe true success comes from accepting personal responsibility for our actions. I believe everything we do matters, and that each of us has an obligation to do our very best in whatever role we earn.
Dr. Peake is a Professor in the Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education and Communication at the University of Georgia. He serves as Director of the Center for Elementary Agricultural Education and specializes in elementary agricultural education, teacher preparation, educational technology, and artificial intelligence applications in teaching and learning. His research focuses on expanding agricultural literacy, preparing future educators, and developing innovative approaches that improve educational outcomes. Dr. Peake has authored more than 50 peer reviewed publications, served as Pi or CoPi on over 20 million in grants, and has led numerous state and national initiatives related to agricultural education.
