The University of Georgia School of Social Work is starting the academic year with two milestones for its Online Master of Social Work program: a new program coordinator and its largest cohort to date.

Clinical Assistant Professor Naynette Kennett has been named the new Online Master of Social Work (MSW) Program Coordinator. A licensed clinical social worker, Kennett brings clinical, academic and research experience to the role.

Her research interests include cultural competence, trauma, racial trauma as it relates to clinical practice, infant mental health, sports performance and mental health, and perinatal mental health. In her new role, she will draw on that experience to support Online MSW students and the continued development of the program.

The announcement comes as the School of Social Work welcomes its largest MSW cohort for the second consecutive year. Of the 278 new MSW students joining UGA this year, 87 are enrolled online, alongside students studying in Athens, at the Gwinnett Campus, and through Advanced Standing/Double Dawgs pathways.

The continued growth of the Online MSW expands access to a UGA graduate education for students who need the flexibility of an online program while preparing for careers serving individuals, families and communities.
