Flag Observance Recognizes Veterans

The University of Georgia has been showing gratitude this week for the sacrifices of veterans. One of the ways the campus community showed appreciation was with a Flag Observance. The flags were placed in the memorial garden outside of the Zell B. Miller Learning Center to commemorate the service of those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. James Davis, president of the Student Veterans Association,  said that  “The Flag Observance was meant to bring awareness to all members on UGA’s campus of how big a presence veterans have. Each Flag placed in Memorial Garden represents 1,000 Veterans in the state of Georgia (Around 774,000), in which approximately 250 are on UGA’s campus as students.” The display was in a very prominent part of campus, and most students on campus that day were able to see all of the flags and take the time to appreciate veterans. For those who were not on campus, or did not go through the Memorial Garden, a video is posted below that captures the event.
