Kelly Meyer, Distance Learning Coordinator for Grady College, Recognized by Past Student

Kelly Meyer is the Distance Learning Coordinator for Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, and is also instrumental in the administration of the low residency MFA in Narrative Media Writing program. Recently, a former student of hers wrote an article as part of a series for HuffPost Gratitude, entitled ‘The One Thing I’m Most Thankful For,’ which was published by the Huffington Post’s Gratitude section. Amanda Barnard was enrolled in one of Kelly’s classes at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) where she taught before coming to UGA. In her very touching and appreciative piece, Amanda conveys that Kelly was an incredible teacher, who also participated in her students’ lives beyond the classroom. Amanda writes, “Kelly constantly asked our class to decenter our perspectives and viewpoints to make room for the experiences that we have never had…constantly [asked] us to place ourselves in the shoes of others.”

At UGA Online, we are also very grateful to have a member of our team “who inspires and places passion in the hearts of her students…who cares passionately and deeply for her students and their success.”
