I enjoy individual and group counseling with a focus on mindfulness
Part-time Instructor
My professional practice includes working for a local non-profit, Family Counseling Service since 2006 in general mental health counseling. I also work with couples, individuals, and families and supervise MSW interns.
Additionally, I work with the Misdemeanor DUI/Drug Court in Athens and hold several group sessions each week specializing in Substance Use Disorders. I am the Lead Treatment Clinician with the DUI/Drug Court and am also a certified Clinical Evaluator and Treatment Provider in the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities.
What interests me the most about the field of Social Work is the variety of work that someone with an MSW can do. The ways we can help clients using research-based methods are limitless.
As a teacher, I enjoy sharing what I have learned in this field with my students. I hope to give them a taste of what the real world of working in counseling can be like. My teaching philosophy is to offer interesting perspectives to students and to help them be open to ideas and think critically about the profession.
My hope is that students gain a positive experience that opens their eyes to all of the various options in Social Work and that they learn what the field is really like.
I live in Athens with my daughter and beloved pets. I enjoy time at home perfecting my cooking skills, yoga, health and wellness, and hanging out with my daughter.
