Lecturer

Looking back on my journey as an educator, I have found that implementing evidence-based teaching strategies, designing inclusive courses, fostering student motivation, and ensuring transparent assessment have been pivotal in creating meaningful learning experiences for students.
Teaching is my passion because I enjoy making a positive impact on students’ academic exploration. The inspiration I gain from my interpersonal interactions with students motivates me to become a better teacher and learner.

In my classes, I hope my students will have meaningful learning experiences, as well as fostering personal connections with me and their peers. I hope that my classes will not only provide knowledge but also the skills they need to be successful in their careers.

I am passionate about the Structural Engineering field because I like to get involved in the analysis and design of objects that are geometrically large – like buildings. These sorts of designs can create many challenges and at the same time provide opportunities for innovation. I love to solve problems.

The field of Earthquake Engineering is something I’m enthusiastic about because I grew up in a country that is vulnerable to this hazard. This motivates me to use my knowledge and skills in Structural Engineering to improve the resiliency of our infrastructure system.

I am afraid of heights and a poor swimmer. However, I enjoy hiking, including climbing Mount Whitney, and snorkeling. I also like to cook for my family and friends.
