All citizens, and especially those working for public agencies, must know the laws governing their profession.

John Dayton

Professor

Law is the necessary foundation for civilization. When the rule of law breaks down, so does civil society. Further, law is the best tool we have for moving social progress forward.

Social progress often begins with political advocacy, but the battle for social progress isn’t won until the laws are changed to better protect vulnerable persons and require more just and ethical practices.  Good laws are the essential foundation of a good society.  When we improve our laws, we improve our lives.

All citizens, and especially those working for public agencies, must know the laws governing their profession.  Students in my classes learn the laws governing their work.  Further, they learn how to apply these laws consistent with the highest ethical principles.  Your learning and experiences in my law courses will make you a stronger professional, a more informed person, and a better citizen.
