Lauren Baggett

Instructor and NMI’s Director of Communications and Donor Engagement

Lauren is an Instructor and the NMI’s Director of Communications and Donor Engagement. Lauren earned her Bachelors and Masters degrees from the Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. She is an accomplished communications professional and brings over 15 years of experience with digital communications, storytelling, and project management to NMIX and JRMC courses. She teaches NMIX 4010: Web Development, NMIX 4410: New Media Capstone, and JRMC 7011 Project Management. As a recovering perfectionist, Lauren’s teaching philosophy encourages students to problem-solve, ask lots of questions, and not be afraid to make mistakes. She loves helping students get that “aha” moment when they’re learning new or hard things, and deepening their critical thinking and communication skills.

Lauren is always looking for ways technology can help her be a better writer communicator, planner, and human. She’s very excited about the possibilities for artificial intelligence to free up time for professionals from journalism to healthcare so they can focus on the specialized and creative work that really helps people.

When she’s not in class, Lauren leads the NMI’s communication strategy and spearheads programming to support fundraising and stewardship efforts. Outside of work, you can find her listening to podcasts, playing ultimate frisbee, reading a romance novel, cooking, and spending time with her husband and son.
