I appreciate the fact that Statistics is an applied science. If the courses I taught were abstract, students may not enjoy it as much. Instead, we can perform simulations to obtain values that would otherwise require students to use imagination and require me to simply say “just trust me”.
I want students to understand the various tools available to them to solve a variety of applications. Not all tools are suitable to solve the same problem. But, knowing the tools at your disposal will be useful. The techniques can then be applied to methods beyond the course.
