Give Back this Giving Tuesday
Give Back this Giving Tuesday
The holidays are beginning this year and soon the frenzy of holiday shopping will take place. You feel bombarded with advertisements for Black Friday, Cyber Monday and holiday shopping galore. It’s easy to get wrapped up in the need to buy presents for the holidays, but the holidays are also a time to give back and help others in need. A day often forgotten about is Giving Tuesday.
Giving Tuesday is November 27, 2018 this year and is a global day of giving fueled by social media and collaboration. Giving Tuesday is celebrated the Tuesday following Thanksgiving and kicks off the charitable season. Whether you give a monetary donation, spend time with your community or donate an item, spreading kindness to create change is meaningful and impactful.
Consider making the University of Georgia your cause and commit to giving to UGA. With a donation to UGA, you would be preparing the next generation of leaders, transforming lives and communities and making groundbreaking discoveries. No matter your connection to UGA, even if it’s online, there are ways to make an impression on the areas that matter most to you. You can donate to your college or school, contribute to a scholarship that removes barriers and open doors for students, or give to the University in the Georgia Fund.
Former UGA online alumnus Adrian Bailey, is a veteran, former alumni chapter president and lifelong Georgia Bulldog fan. Bailey encourages others to network, take online classes, stay involved with UGA and give back. Almost everyone is connected to UGA and Bailey advises to simply strike a conversation with a fellow Dawg and ask about their experiences.
Commit to giving to the University of Georgia and help change students’ lives, enhance the learning environment and inspire tomorrow’s leaders. Information on Giving Tuesday can be found on the givingtuesday.org. For ways to stay connected to UGA, visit the Alumni Association.
