New Online Tool Helps Improve Writing Skills

What is Turnitin?

Turnitin, a new online pedagogy tool, is accessible to students, faculty and staff. The online tool aims to aid users in creating clear written drafts and accurate class assignments. Turnitin has many uses such as providing automated grammar, citations and formatting suggestions.

Grammar Check finds potential grammatical errors in papers, and explains how to correct them. It helps students identify citations within documents and format them correctly. PeerMark, the peer review feature, allows students to review their classmates’ papers. Finally, the similarity report provides an opportunity to check the integrity of a student’s assignment by comparing to similar projects and assignments to promote academic honesty.

How do you access Turnitin?

Turnitin is available for use through eLC and UGA’s instance of Google Docs. Microsoft Word files can be imported into Google Docs.
