Online Learning Cohort-Based Fellows Program

Online Learning Cohort-Based Fellows Program

In support of the creation of online undergraduate summer courses, the Office of Online Learning (OOL) is offering the Online Learning Faculty Fellows program.

The cohort-based fellows program is college-centric, with the intent of empowering colleges to identify courses that align with their strategic needs. Faculty fellows will participate in a blended training program that incorporates face-to-face meetings and enrollment in an online course created by the Office of Online Learning.

This newly formatted 8-week program is designed to train chosen UGA faculty to design, develop and teach asynchronous online courses for summer 2016.  It will provide faculty with training and resources to develop online courses while aligning with a nationally recognized quality design standard, Quality Matters.

By providing faculty at UGA with the unique perspective of being online students, the program allows for fellows to develop their online courses with a student-centered approach.

“The experience of teaching online will make for a better course in the classroom as well, so there’s certainly no reason not to do it,” said online fellows faculty Emuel Aldridge, Ed.D., shown below with Keith Bailey, Director of Online Learning.

The spring fellowship program has accepted 13 cohorts from nine UGA colleges, including:

  • College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences
  • Franklin College of Arts and Sciences
  • Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication
  • College of Public Health
  • College of Family and Consumer Sciences
  • College of Education
  • Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources
  • Odum School of Ecology
  • College of Environment and Design

The spring program is expected to result in 54 new online summer courses.
