Brionna Johnson Headshot

Meet Brionna Johnson, Associate Director of Employer Relations at the University of Georgia Career Center and a proud graduate of the Online Master of Education in Higher Education Administration (MIHE) program from the Louise McBee Institute of Higher Education.

Why MIHE?
“As a former Georgia College Advising Corps adviser, I chose MIHE because it already felt like home!” Brionna shares. The program’s mission to support outreach initiatives, like the GCAC, resonated deeply with her passion for increasing access to higher education for low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented students. “Because of this clear dedication to work I really care about, returning to serve as a graduate assistant and learn from the MIHE faculty was a no-brainer.”

How MIHE Shaped Her Career
Brionna credits the MIHE program with preparing her for success in her career by providing a deep understanding of the “bureaucracy and governance of higher education as well as the policy context we are operating within.” This knowledge, paired with her passion for working directly with students, enabled her to become a “more intentional, informed, and innovative higher education leader.”

Advice for Future Students
“Get involved! Do one new thing every semester,” Brionna advises. Whether it’s research, internships, mentorship, or joining student organizations, these experiences are crucial for building your network and uncovering your next steps.

Brionna’s story is a testament to the transformative impact of the MIHE program, as it prepares graduates to lead and innovate in higher education.
