The University of Georgia is committed to expanding its online programs as part of a new strategic enrollment plan, ensuring that its infrastructure and resources support students in both traditional and virtual learning environments.

As UGA continues to attract top students, the university is taking a measured approach to growth. Over the next five years, the university will sustain the size of its first-year class while moderately increasing the number of graduate and transfer students—many of whom enroll in online programs.

UGA’s online programs have consistently ranked among the best in the nation. According to U.S. News & World Report, several of UGA’s online graduate programs are in the top 10 nationally, including the Terry College of Business’s online master’s in business, which ranks among the top 10 overall, and three of the Mary Frances Early College of Education’s online master’s programs, each ranked in the top five of their respective categories.

These high-quality online offerings provide students with greater flexibility, allowing them to earn a UGA degree while balancing work, family, and other responsibilities. As demand for online learning grows, UGA remains committed to expanding access while maintaining the rigorous academic standards that define a UGA education.

“We are in a fortunate position. We have record interest from undergraduate and graduate students,” said Andy Borst, UGA’s vice provost for enrollment management.

By prioritizing online program expansion, UGA is not only accommodating students’ evolving needs but also strengthening its role as a leader in accessible, high-quality education. Whether students are in Athens or across the country, they can experience the excellence of a UGA education—on their terms.
