UGA Regulatory Sciences Recognized at Georgia Bio Awards
Each year, Georgia Bio recognizes achievement and honors excellence in the life sciences industry in Georgia. At this year’s Georgia Bio Golden Helix Awards, the faculty and staff of the University of Georgia Institute for International Biomedical Regulatory Sciences and its online International Biomedical Regulatory Sciences graduate programs, received the Community Award from Georgia Bio.
The Community Award recognizes entities who have contributed to Georgia’s life sciences community and is presented to a small number of individuals, companies or institutions whose contributions to Georgia’s life sciences community are worthy of special recognition. Dr. Michael Bartlett, Associate Dean for Science Education, Research and Technology in the College of Pharmacy and Director of the Institute for International Biomedical Regulatory Sciences, has played a big part in the success of UGA’s online International Biomedical Regulatory Sciences degree. Dr. Bartlett received the award on behalf of the program.
“The International Biomedical Regulatory Sciences program is the most comprehensive program of its kind in the country. No program covers the range of products—medical devices, animal health products, vaccines, monoclonal antibodies, stem cell therapies and pharmaceuticals—that our program does,” said Bartlett.
UGA will also host the 43rd Annual UGA-FDA International Good Manufacturing Practices Conference this March 11-14 in Athens. This conference was established in conjunction with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to create an annual ongoing dialogue between regulatory agencies and the pharmaceutical industry on important issues in drug compliance and quality.
Additionally, UGA’s International Biomedical Regulatory Sciences Program will be hosting an open house to welcome the new program director, Dr. Grace Gowda. The open house is set to take place April 27, 2019, from 10AM to 1PM at UGA’s Gwinnett Campus. Both current and prospective students are invited and encouraged to attend to learn more about the program, network with alumni, faculty, and staff, as well as hear Dr. Gowda’s plans for the program.
