UGA Team Wins College Bowl Championship
On October 28, University of Georgia seniors, Aidan Leahy, Elijah Odunade and Layla Parsa, competed against Columbia University, the reigning champions in the College Bowl championship. The competition is a multi-week trivia competition which was hosted by Peyton Manning and Cooper Manning.
The competitors said the environment was very positive and the quiz bowl community was very supportive of one another.
Each participant earned $125,000 in scholarship winnings. In addition to the prize money and the title, the competition helped highlight the university’s academic strengths.
Each student had a different motivation to participate in the event but regardless of why they joined, the scholarship money will allow them to establish a base for their future education and careers. Leahy shared with UGA Today, “I come from a lower income, single-parent household… this helps provide some much needed security, and hopefully a good start to my career when I leave UGA.”
The team shared they were proud to bring another national championship to UGA. Odunade even said, “I guess you can call Athens ‘Title Town’ now.”
