March 7, 2025Growing up, nothing fascinated Jidong Yang more than how things were built. It began when he learned about the Great Pyramid of Giza. He marveled at how such a large structure was built with so little technology. “I was so curious about the process, and it sort of became my motivation,” said Yang, associate professor in the University of Georgia’s College of Engineering and instructor in the online M.S in Civil Engineering. “I began to look at structures and wonder how they were built.”

February 19, 2025For Anna Herrington, earning a degree from the University of Georgia has always been part of the plan—even if it didn’t happen exactly as she first expected. “As the daughter of two UGA alumni, I bled red and black from birth, and I had always planned to attend UGA, too,” she says. Though she was first accepted in 2002 after high school, life led her elsewhere, and she earned her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Georgia Southern University. Still, she never lost her love for learning—or her dream of becoming a UGA graduate.
