UGA Online BBA Student Nyaboke Machini Loves the Flexibility of Getting Her Degree Online
Nyaboke Machini’s first bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia led her to a job at a nonprofit startup. In this lean environment, where everyone wore many hats, she developed an interest in becoming a project manager and consultant. Nyaboke wanted to sharpen her business acumen in order to successfully navigate her way into this new field, so she returned to UGA to enroll in the online Bachelor of Business Administration degree completion program offered by the Terry College of Business.
With a full-time job, a vibrant social life and many family commitments, Nyaboke loves the flexibility of the Online BBA program which allows her to complete her degree on her own schedule. Nyaboke says, “The best thing I did was use my Google Calendar! I organized my life and work schedules to find the times I could focus on school.” For convenience, she books a conference room in her office building or studies from her desk right after her workday ends. On weekends, she studies in public spaces, such as coffee shops or even Ponce City Market in Atlanta, to keep her motivated and energized. Nyaboke also squeezes in extra study time by downloading lectures on her laptop to listen to while traveling, including during an unplanned trip to take care of a family emergency.
As graduation nears, Nyaboke is eager to launch her new career and is proud of all that she has done to complete her second UGA degree. She says, “Just be diligent with your goals; there will be a way to get it done.”
