Teaching gives me an opportunity to share lessons learned from more than 30 years in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry. I enjoy helping students connect scientific concepts with real-world drug development and regulatory decision-making. Seeing students grow in confidence and develop into future leaders is one of the most rewarding parts of teaching.
I am most interested in the intersection of science, innovation, and patient care. Regulatory science plays a critical role in bringing new therapies to patients while ensuring safety, quality, and efficacy. I am particularly fascinated by biologics, gene therapies, vaccines, and the growing use of artificial intelligence in healthcare.
I believe learning is most effective when students understand both the science and its practical application. My goal is to create an engaging environment that encourages critical thinking, discussion, and problem-solving. The most important part is to understand the broader context of regulatory science.
I hope students gain a strong understanding of drug development and regulatory science, along with the confidence to tackle complex challenges. Most importantly, I want them to appreciate how their work can positively impact patients, market access, and public health.
I consider myself both a teacher and a lifelong student. I encourage curiosity, questions, and open discussion, and I look forward to helping students bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world practice. I am hoping to learn from our students also.
I have lived and worked in both the United States and Europe. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, learning about different cultures, and spending time with my family. I am a strong believer in lifelong learning.
Dr. Nirdosh Jagota is Vice President of Regulatory Affairs at Ironwood Pharmaceuticals and Adjunct Professor at the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy. He brings more than 30 years of global pharmaceutical and biotechnology experience, having held senior leadership positions as VP/SVP at Ironwood, Amgen, Merck, Roche/Genentech, Pfizer, Ocugen, and Arcturus. Throughout his career, Dr. Jagota has contributed to the development and approval of 23 NDAs, 12 BLAs, and 3 biosimilars across small molecules, biologics, vaccines, gene therapies, and combination products. His teaching focuses on bridging scientific principles with real-world drug development, regulatory strategy, and patient impact. He is passionate about mentoring the next generation of pharmaceutical scientists and regulatory professionals.
