The construction of fair assessment instruments without any bias can be an important application of item response theory.

Omer Clyde and Elizabeth Parr Aderhold Professor in Research Methodology

I got my Ph.D. in Educational Psychology concentrating in Quantitative Methodology with a minor in Statistics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I finished my M.S. degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I finished my B.A. degree in Education from Korea University in Seoul, South Korea.

I had many excellent, caring teachers in my earlier years as well as many world-renowned professors in my professional training. All of them were constant sources of inspiration to me.

I am interested in educational and psychological measurement and applied statistics. Item response theory is the main area of my research. Many modern assessment instruments are created with techniques based on item response theory. Computerized adaptive testing is a good example of an application of item response theory. The construction of fair assessment instrument without any bias can also be an important application of item response theory.

The most important aspect I hope students will receive from me is to obtain a basic understanding of the content covered in the respective course. Books and teaching materials are resources for knowledge. I will try to be a good teacher who facilitates the learning experience.

When not teaching, I like reading good books (e.g., The Lifetime Reading Plan), listening to music (e.g., Mozart), and playing golf (e.g., eagled the 6th hole at UGA golf course) are my hobbies. Unfortunately, I am losing distance each time I play golf.
