Check to see if your state will allow UGA to offer online education to its residents. UGA is compliant with state authorization laws in all 50 states. More information about state authorization in each state for distance education at the University of Georgia is also available to you. Apply for Financial Aid

Students wishing to be considered for financial assistance opportunities should consider completing a free application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). More information about financial assistance opportunities is available through the Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) at the University of Georgia.


Admission

Only students admitted to the University of Georgia (UGA) can register for online classes.

Undergraduate

Interested in taking an online course or applying to an online undergraduate program? Apply through UGA Undergraduate Admissions.

Program specific requirements for admission are on each program page. Visit the online degrees and certificates page for a list of UGA online degrees.

Students currently enrolled at another university or college who wish to take an online class at the University of Georgia should apply as a transient student using the Transfer Admission Application.

Graduate

To apply to a UGA online graduate program, start by exploring the online degrees and certificates page. An application checklist for each program will guide you through the admissions process. You will need to apply to the Graduate School and meet the specific requirements of the program. Program specific application requirements can be found on each program page as well as requirements for admission.

After Acceptance

  • Contact your online program personal advisor.
    Every online program has advisors who will be happy to assist you with course planning and registration. 
  • Register for Class
    All online classes at the University of Georgia will be available for registration through Athena.
  • Check the Academic Calendar
    Review the information provided on the Academic Calendar to determine when your class begins and ends.
  • Check Your Student Account
    Review information in the Student Accounts System to determine the cost of your course(s). Online students pay the following fees: Connect UGA, Green, Special Institutional, and Technology. See UGA Tuition and Fees for the complete schedule of fees.
  • Get Help
    For specific questions about your course (i.e. exam, assignments, due dates), contact your instructor.
    For technical issues with eLC, contact the EITS Help Desk.
    For general questions about taking classes online, contact your Academic Advisor.
