40 Years Later, Susan Swann Jumps Back into School with Online BBA

40 Years Later, Susan Swann Jumps Back into School with Online BBA

Susan Swann was 40 years removed from the classroom when she took her first steps towards completing her degree. In those 40 years she had raisedthree wonderful kids with her husband and become a manager in a global corporation; and yet, she still felt like there was something missing. Susan had always wanted to complete her degree, and now that her children had completed college, she knew she needed to finish what she started.

Susan currently lives and works full-time in South Carolina, so she needed an online degree program that would be flexible enough to allow her to balance her family, work, and community responsibilities. As a former UGA student, she also needed a program that would accept her quarter-system credit. Rather than try to start a degree from scratch in South Carolina, Susan decided to return to the University of Georgia and complete her Bachelor’s of Business Administration online.

Susan says she chose the Online BBA because of its applicability to her current career field. Growing as a manager is very important to Susan, and earning her degree will enable her to be a more well-rounded and versatile member of her company. Thus, learning about various management styles and how they are applied in the real world has been a highlight of Susan’s Online BBA experience. She also notes that learning how to utilize the technology associated with online learning has been one of her biggest challenges– and greatest achievements–while in the Online BBA.

Susan’s own tenacity and the support she has received from her family have enabled her to be successful in the Online BBA program. She admits that at times it can be quite exhausting juggling all of her commitments with school, but she knows that earning her degree will be worth it in the end. Susan says that she is finally “seeing the light at the end of the tunnel,” and that she will soon be achieving what she set out to do many years ago.
