Faces of UGA Online: Lorretta Arrington
Once Lorretta Arrington was discharged from the military, it was easy for her to secure a job. However, during the recession she realized additional education was imperative for her career to grow and thrive. Lorretta was working full-time and finishing her associate’s degree when she heard about UGA’s Online BBA degree completion program. UGA and Online? For Lorretta, nothing else needed to be said.
Lorretta has discovered that learning online doesn’t mean learning alone. She studies and works in groups using video chats, conference calls, instant messaging apps and other online channels. She also enjoys integrating an offline community into her academic experience. Lorretta says, “I found some classmates that live in my area. We meet at coffee shops to study, collaborate on group projects and get to know one another face to face.” Lorretta finds that this traditional type of interaction enriches her experience and keeps her more deeply connected to her peers.
Lorretta, who works in the field of operations management, will apply the knowledge she has gained from UGA’s Terry College of Business to continually achieve career advancement. Lorretta’s motto is “Go BIG or go home!” True to form, she plans to celebrate graduation in Italy with her husband watching a Formula 1 race.
