Looking For Scholarships? Here Are Some Excellent Sites.

A new semester is fast approaching, as the summer passes its mid-point. This means that students are looking for scholarships again, and there are a lot of unhelpful and misleading websites out there. Here are a few that are truly worth taking a look at! Some of the scholarships featured have due dates that have already passed, but that’s no matter, because applying as soon as possible is the best idea when it comes to scholarships–and if you don’t get one for this coming semester, you could earn yourself some money for spring.

1. Scholarships.com

What an easy name to remember! This site is extremely helpful. The site gives you the opportunity to filter scholarships depending on your major, year in school and location, which saves a lot of time. There’s an interesting scholarship featured called the Proof-Reading.com Scholarship Program, which requires an essay, but also offers $1,500. An essay is nothing compared to the money you could win!

2. Zinch.com

Since we were talking about scholarship essays previously, this website has a very popular award called the Weekly Three Sentence Essay Scholarship, which gives applicants the opportunity to create a 280-character essay (two tweets worth) for $1,000. That’s an offer I definitely would not be refusing. Besides that, however, Zinch has a lot of other creative and fun scholarships which are very relevant to you.

3. Fastweb.com

We love Fastweb because it has targeted scholarships, matched to you because of your strengths, interests and skills, as well as career advice, if you’re needing any. A featured scholarship on Fastweb currently is the “Look Twice, Save a Life Scholarship” which is offered until December, for $1,000. It requires applicants to create some kind of social awareness through a video, artwork, an essay or anything else, which would engage other students to focus on safe driving and on Looking Twice for Motorcycle Safety.

4. ScholarshipPoints.com

This website is pretty unique since it allows users to rack up points through a rewards system, making different scholarships eligible to them based on their points. Points can be earned through things like reading blogs, playing online games, and taking quizzes. There is a monthly $1,000 scholarship for members and a quarterly $10,000 scholarship.

Many other interesting and diverse scholarship databases are located on USAToday’s website.
