Sean McGirr invested thirteen years into building a successful career in the supply chain industry with some of the world’s most prestigious companies, including his current tenure with Mercedes-Benz USA, headquartered in Atlanta, GA. Sean has been identified as an emerging leader within his company, but had climbed as far as he could for now. And it wasn’t hard to pinpoint why: an unfinished bachelor’s degree, which is a requirement for many management tracks.

Sean knew that the only way he could move up in his company would be by returning to school to complete his degree. But Sean wouldn’t settle for just any degree–he wanted a degree that would prepare him for management success, come from a reputable university, and accommodate his busy adult life. Thus, Sean chose the UGA Bachelor of Business Administration online degree-completion program.

Developed by the Terry College of Business for busy professionals, the BBA Online complements Sean’s experience in supply chain and logistics. According to Sean, he has already begun using finance and management classroom learnings in his day-to-day at work.

Before he even enrolled in the program, the BBA Online team’s commitment to its students’ online experiences impressed him. From helping explain course transfers and prerequisites to ensuring a smooth student experience, the BBA team has shown its commitment to its students. Sean also highlights the support of his fiancée, his family, and his employer, stating that their encouragement and desire to see him succeed has made his journey possible. 

Sean’s goal is to finish his degree in Spring 2020. Like many of our students, Sean’s graduation means more than just acquiring a diploma–it’s a prestigious accomplishment, a showcase of determination, and in his case, the spark for a successful career in management.
