As we all know, graduation is an exciting time whether you’re graduating in fall, spring, or summer, this special day is a great opportunity to celebrate with your faculty and classmates in person. At UGA Online, we are of the firm opinion that our online students should have the same graduation experience as in-person students. Although the graduation ceremonies are broadcast live on Channel 15 of the University Cable System and Channel 181 of the Charter Cable System, and streamed live on The University Channel, we would love for you to attend in person. Graduation regalia can be purchased easily over the phone or online.
Attending the commencement ceremony in person offers you the opportunity to meet with your virtual classmates and professors, and to experience the pride of graduation with other University of Georgia students. You’re a Dawg, after all, and you deserve the same celebration that all other students receive. As alumna, DeDe DeLaughter says, “I earned it.” Watch the video below on her experience attending graduation in person, as a UGA student.
The commencement ceremony for graduate students is typically held in Stegeman Coliseum and the undergraduate ceremony is held in Sanford Stadium. Academic regalia is required for participation in all UGA ceremonies, but we know it’s hard for you to make it into the graduation fairs at The University of Georgia Bookstore. Fortunately, students attending classes outside of Athens can order academic regalia by calling 706-542-7224. When ordering, be sure to know your height, approximate weight, major, and degree. Undergraduates will need to order an additional tassel if they are graduating with honors. Please allow a few weeks for delivery. Custom and fine quality regalia for students earning master’s, professional or doctoral degrees must be ordered well in advance.
For more information about caps, gowns, diplomas, and announcements, go to the UGA Bookstore’s website. And for more information about either the undergraduate or graduate commencement ceremonies, check the official UGA Commencement website.
