Stephan Durham Receives Juneau Construction Company Professorship in Civil Engineering

Nancy Juneau and Stephan Durham

College of Engineering professor, and assistant dean for student success and outreach, Stephan Durham has been named the inaugural holder of the Juneau Construction Company Professorship in Civil Engineering.

Established in 2024, this professorship is funded by Nancy and Les Juneau and aims to provide support to an outstanding professor of civil engineering. It marks the first occasion in UGA history that a professorship has been established and awarded specifically for civil engineering. The University of Georgia Foundation has matched the Juneaus’ contribution, creating a new endowment sure to impact the college, faculty, and its students, for years to come.

Part of the engineering faculty since 2012, Durham has developed the College of Engineering’s undergraduate program in civil engineering, as well as contributing to the development of – and teaching in – the Online Master of Science in Engineering with an Emphasis in Civil Engineering.

As the assistant dean for student success and outreach, Durham supports the college in a variety of arenas, including managing professional development activities, coordinating student applications for fellowships and scholarships, and leading the Emerging Engineers Leadership Development program.
