U.S. News Ranks UGA Top 20 for 8th Consecutive Year

The University of Georgia ranks in the top 20 among the country’s best public universities for the eighth consecutive year. U.S. News & World Report released their 2024 college rankings which positioned UGA at No. 20 among public universities and No. 47 among all national universities.

UGA is one of only two schools from Georgia to make the top 20, sharing the distinction with Georgia Tech. Also of note, Georgia is one of only four states to have more than one university earn a position in the top 20.

In addition to the overall ranking, UGA received impressive marks in specific majors, specifically within Terry College of Business. Overall, Terry College rose to No. 21 for undergraduate business programs and once again the risk management and insurance program ranked No. 1 in the nation. Other degrees that were recognized were real estate at No. 4, management information systems at No. 12 and accounting at No. 17.

UGA’s academic excellence is not only shown through rankings, but through the increased demand for a UGA degree. Application numbers have doubled over the past decade and four-year completion rates have increased to 75.1%. The dedication to student’s success follows them throughout their career with a 96% of graduates being employed or pursuing a graduate degree within six months of graduation.

UGA is consistently ranked as a top university throughout the year. This spring U.S. News and World Report gave UGA’s graduate programs high marks, and last month Forbes ranked UGA No. 21 among the top 25 public colleges. Most recently the university received the No. 9 ranking from Niche on their list of top public universities. Just last week, Bloomberg Businessweek ranked UGA’s full-time MBA program at No. 8 among public institutions.
