I hope my students will gain an appreciation for critical thought, a penchant for mindful questioning, the ability to listen actively and a craving for furthering each of their areas of inquiry in the field of nutrition.

My major focus of interest includes food insecurity, nutrition education, chronic disease prevention/management (primarily diabetes) and issues related to food and social justice.  It is a particularly interesting time to learn about nutrition specific to these issues, and I welcome diverse opinions, ideas for creative solutions, and ways to advance equity and healthy opportunities for all. I enjoy teaching in part because I always learn as much, if not more, from my students than they learn from me! Each student’s diverse life experiences and lens by which they see the world expands and enhances my understanding of how food, nutrition and human health intersect.
