The University of Georgia College of Pharmacy recently hosted the seventh annual Medical Device Regulations Conference on November 6-7th at UGA’s Gwinnett Campus in Lawrenceville, GA.
Graduate Certificate Clinical Trials Design and Management
Offered through the College of Pharmacy Regulatory Affairs, the University of Georgia’s online Graduate Certificate in Clinical Trials Design and Management will prepare you to lead and manage the development and implementation of scientifically valid clinical study design including monitoring of clinical trials and directing daily clinical trial operations.
This interdisciplinary program encompasses critical core competency areas including biostatistics, federal regulations, bioethics, and project management. These areas are integral in drug product development and medical device design validation required for federal regulatory market clearance and commercialization.
The program plan is ideal for working professionals and consists of 17 semester credit hours, delivered online, with occasional live sessions at the UGA Gwinnett Campus. The certificate course work may be applied toward a Master’s Degree in Pharmacy with an emphasis in Regulatory Affairs.

Clinical Trials Design and Management Admission Requirements
Students applying to The University of Georgia must be accepted by the Graduate School. Persons holding a bachelor's degree from any institution accredited by the proper regional accrediting association are eligible to apply for admission to the Graduate School. Preference will be given to applicants with a degree in sciences, healthcare, or engineering. Preference will also be given to applicants employed in the pharmaceutical, medical device, biotechnology industries or related field.
Applying to the Certificate in Clinical Trials Design and Management Program is a two-step process. You will need to submit our departmental application and an application to the UGA Graduate School.
Students applying to the graduate school for non-degree status are not required to take entrance exams or to submit test scores and letters of recommendation. However, applicants are encouraged to include a company support letter in their application documents.

- Test Scores – International applicants must also submit TOEFL or IELTS scores.
- Statement of Purpose – Send to the department graduate coordinator. A statement of intent should clarify the candidate’s relevant background, interests, and goals, and indicate their intent for the online program in their statement.
- Résumé or curriculum vita – Send to the department graduate coordinator.
- Official Transcripts – Submit unofficial transcripts from all institutions attended as part of the online application. Send official transcripts after you are offered admission.
- Letters of Recommendation - Submit two letters of recommendation online to the graduate school. Letters should be from individuals who can evaluate the applicant’s scholarly ability and potential for success in a graduate program.

The library research resources available to distance learners have never been better. No matter what your topic or where you are studying, the books and articles you need are only a few clicks away. But to find them, you’ll have to learn to use the GIL online catalog and GALILEO databases, which can seem intimidating to the uninitiated.
The fastest way to get started is with the video tutorials created by the UGA Libraries.

This one, “Welcome to the Libraries,” introduces the most powerful tools available through the UGA Libraries web site in less than five minutes. It also shows you how to gain off-campus access to GALILEO databases and e-books, how to renew your books online, and how to request materials from the Repository. It explains basic services such as how to access materials that have been placed on reserve, how to use GIL Express, and how to use Interlibrary Loan.

All are brief, closed-captioned instructional sessions. If you are new to the UGA Libraries or coming back to school after some time off, these tutorials are a great way to get an overview of services or refresh rusty research skills. Here you’ll find videos showing you how to recall books that are checked out to other patrons, when to use GIL-Find or GIL Classic, and how to find UGA dissertations as well as dissertations available at other universities. Other tutorials will help you search specific databases and locate a specific journal article.
